That complicated limbo where couples find they can’t be together but can’t leave one another either, where relations – increasingly tested by temptations and hectic lifestyles – run the risk of slipping into second place. This suspended period in time is explored through the emblematic stories of three couples: for forty-year-old Fabrizio, it’s an emotional disaster concealing other issues; for his partner Valeria, it’s an opportunity; for Valter, who’s nearing sixty, it’s an unacceptable wrong imposed on him by his wife Fiorella, to whom he’s been married for thirty years, whereas, for her, it’s a necessity; for nineteen-year-old Erica it’s a bump in the road; for her boyfriend Gabriel, whom she met online, it conceals his need to find himself. Will stopping and listening to one another in order to try and save their relationships really be worth it, at the end of the day?
